LOST AND FOUND PET SIGNS

May 2014

As we all know , there are many pets that become lost , for many reasons, every day. In an effort to help , having key locations throughout the community to post flyers on, could be essential , and will keep the community tidy as well.   I reached out to the community for sign donations, and Britco Signs stepped up , with a dozen FDOT approved reflective signs and posts. In scouting locations, I went to ITID , in front of the board, and made our request to place these signs at key intersections throughout the acreage/ Loxahatchee community. Not only did they approve, they installed these signs at the locations requested, where they remain for our community's use today.

IN HONOR OF BRITTANY < a neighbor , an animal lover

May 2015

A tragic car accident occurred, our neighbor , a young woman respected by her peers, gone too soon.

We wanted to help in some small way, to show we care, and during a planned fundraiser for ourselves, we changed course and helped our community.

We love our Community !

PHANTOM

May 2014 Lost for several months, presumed stolen, this pup was shared and searched for , following every lead. One day, he was spotted on pbacc website as found and brought in. His owners were out of state on a family emergency. Together , we went and collected him and held him , as his family frantically drove back from Georgia. The joyous and tearful  reunion, here at Barky Pines, will never be forgotten. And Phantom's mom is now part of our organization

DOWNERS PARK DOG PARK GRAND OPENING

At the end of last year , I received a call from Tim Wojnar, ITID Parks Dept., asking for my input on a new dog park they wanted to create. What an honor. What a great asset to our community. For those who do not have fenced yards, those who have well behaved dogs that love to be social, this is a blessing !

We met after the new year, and discussed safety and other concerns. We shared ideas of play areas that would be in  keeping with the small budget.  We then offered, that we would " adopt the park ".  We will hold periodic events, bringing volunteers to tidy the park , check for maintenance and safety issues , dog adoption events, etc. throughout the year.

We are proudly cutting the ribbon on November 21, 2015. We look forward to assisting and seeing the additions that will become available with each new budget year!

PET OXYGEN MASKS FOR PALM BEACH COUNTY

April 2014, while  watching the news , a story about pet oxygen masks being donated to Riviera Beach Fire dept. was being aired.

I wondered, do our local emergency vehicles have those on board ? After making several calls, I was put in touch with Chief Arena . He advised me No ! only 2 units , and they were  were out of date. ! I requested and received a list of every emergency first responder vehicle in the acreage / loxahatchee area and through a local facebook group  I was a part of, I created a fund. The generous people in our community donated enough money for us to purchase a mask kit for EVERY emergency vehcice and the back up stations that assist us . A very proud accomplishment , as they have already saved several precious lives. You can see the WPTV" News story link below

COMMUNITY MICROCHIP SCANNER

October 2014 - Stray pups in our community often find their way to our Fire Station 26. They graciously held pups until owners could be found , and I was happy to provide them a crate. One pup , I went to scan , he was microchipped!  He was reunited to a very happy family. I thought wouldn't it be great if the station had their own scanner ! I reached out through facebook, to our community , and they answered ! in less than one hour , we raised the funds to purchase the scanner. Once it arrived I went with Ben to present it and demonstrate its use, and provide all the phone numbers they would need. This has helped get many pups home fast and  our emergency responders back to business at hand!
